A domain is the address of a website. For example, MyBusinessNameHere.com. The ending of a domain, like .com, .net, or .org, is called the top-level domain. Domains are registered with domain registries, and they need to be renewed (usually on an annual basis).

You can think of a domain as a piece of real estate you’re “leasing” from a domain registry. It’s not a website in itself, but you need a domain in order to make a website.

The cost of a domain varies based on the demand for that particular domain. For example, .com domains are in slightly higher demand than .net domains, so they’ll be a bit more expensive. Our domains are FREE for the first year, up to $25 in value. After one year, the average renewal price is just $25 a year.

Unless you’re a coder and know how to build a website from scratch, you’ll most likely want to use a website builder or hire a professional web designer. You’ll also need to register a domain (the address of your website) so customers can find you online.

When you order the CO Business Identity package, you’ll have access to website-building tools you can use to create and customize your business website.

A business email address can be any email you use for your business, but we recommend using an email address that ends in your unique business domain. For example, [email protected].

Why does this matter? Marketing or service emails you send to clients from a generic email address (such as @gmail, @yahoo, etc) are likely to be flagged as spam. This makes it much less likely your customer will even see the email.

With our business email service, you can add up to 10 email addresses ending in your domain. So even if your business is a one-person operation, you can give an impression of professionalism and scale by using email addresses like [email protected], [email protected], etc.

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer, and it’s an internet security protocol that almost all legitimate websites use. SSL encrypts the data shared between web users, protecting the data from being intercepted by hackers. SSL also authenticates that the devices sending and receiving the data are really who they claim to be.

There’s an easy way to know whether a website is protected by SSL. Just look at the complete URL for the website. It should start with HTTPS, not HTTP. (The “S” stands for secure.) Also, your internet browser will most likely warn you if you try to go to an unsecured site. Having SSL is a must for any business website, especially if you want customers to enter personal information on your site.

Our phone service uses VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology, which lets you make phone calls over the internet, without needing a traditional phone plan. You can use phone service with your existing cell phone, anywhere you have internet access.

When you sign up for phone service, you’ll be directed to log into your client account, where you can choose a phone number with a local area code of your choice. Then, just download our free US-based iOS or Android app and create an account.

Phone service includes unlimited talk and text, Visual Voicemail (listen to your voicemails OR read a transcription), and unlimited call forwarding to any US number.
